Vis

Vis is one of the most distant islands from the Croatian mainland with a distance of almost 60 kilometers and has about 3500 inhabitants. Vis can be reached daily by ferry or catamaran on the Line Split - Vis.
The two most famous cities are those of the same name Town Vis with its extensive bay "Viška luka" on the north-east side. In the bay in the east this is tranquil little town Kut, like Vis, a popular destination for sailors. In “Viška Luka” the Franciscan monastery is also on a small peninsula.

The coastal town is in the southwest Komiža almost opposite, one of the most beautiful spots in the Dalmatian island world. Vis as an island has a mountainous character with its numerous beautiful bays like that Stiniva Bay or the Stončica Bay with it`s Lighthouse.

Both on the coast and in the interior of the island, a beautiful mix of cultural landscape and unspoiled nature can be explored and invites to numerous Tours one on well marked paths or "on good luck".

Vis has retained a very large part of its originality, thanks to the military past - what irony - which is due to its important strategic position at that time as a bulwark against the "West". Vis was a restricted area until the early 1990s. Today numerous so-called "Military Tours" offered, where you can explore the old submarine bunkers, positions and tunnel systems.

Other places on the coast near Vis are Rogačić on the north side and Milna or Rukavac on the south side. Inside the island Žena Glava, Podhumlje or Podselje to name a few.
