The historic town of Trogir near Split on the west side of the Bay of Kaštela is a popular destination for excursions and holidays due to its old town and location. The historic old town is a World Heritage Site UNESCO and is located on a small island between the mainland and the island of Čiovo. Trogir was settled in pre-Christian times and was expanded to an important port in the region in Roman times. With the Airport Split Kaštela near by and it`s Bus Station the town is well networked.It happens that in the alleys of the old town it can get uncomfortable when hordes of day tourists from one of the cruise giants anchored in Split visit the city to admire the famous portal of the cathedral "St. Laurentius ”from the 13th century.
