A hiking tour from the town of Bol on the south side of the island "Vidova Gora" - the highest elevation on Brač at almost 780 meters above sea level. The starting point is a junction from the main road of Bračka Cesta outside Bol towards the small church "Sveti Josip".First it goes up the small asphalt side road, past the small church Sveti Josip and on to the mountain massif of the island. On stony paths, which are repeatedly marked with the usual red circle with a white dot, the island forest climbs steadily uphill. The view of the Adriatic Sea (“Hvarski Canal”) and the island of Hvar, south of Brač, opens up. The town of Bol sometimes disappears behind a bend before there are new interesting perspectives of the coastal town to catch.Slowly the path becomes steeper and stony and it goes up "zig zag". Always new wonderful impressions of the landscape and the vegetation delight the eye during the sweaty ascent. After some time of ascending you can see Jelsa on the opposite island of Hvar (below in the picture) with the extensive bay in front of it.Once again, a new point of view from Bol appears, which gradually, smaller and smaller, appears meter by meter. Finally, there are views of the famous beach of Bol "Slatni rat" (Golden Horn), the tip of which takes on different shapes and directions depending on the wind direction and current.Shortly before reaching the "Vidova Gora" there is a magnificent overview of Bol and the Dalmatian island world over the Hvarski Canal, the island of Hvar and beyond, the island of Korčula and the peninsula Pelješac at the bottom left behind. We continue west along the ridge to the destination of “Vidova Gora” at almost 780 meters above sea level and it begins to dawn. Here you should pay attention to the season, because in late autumn it gets dark early and a descent in the dark is not recommended.Once at the top, the astonished view at sunset wanders over the western tip of the island of Hvar into the distance to the island of Vis in the background (below in the picture). In the evening sun, the town of Bol shines in golden light before it disappears in the shade and the lights in the town are slowly switched on.One last look over Hvar and towards Vis at sunset and it goes quickly downhill to the coast to Bol before it gets too dark. You can also get there by car, but by road through the interior of the island almost 30 kilometers. Just beautiful!
